My Bio

www.larainbriggs.co.uk

I am a British artist. My formal art training began in my twenties when I studied under the personal supervision and tuition of a local artist, Nick Bristow. I then attended both Camberwell College of Arts, and Goldsmiths University of London, obtaining a Fine Art BA(Hons), and Post Graduate degree in Art and Design Education. I also attended other educational institutions to add Computer Aided Visualisation, Psychology, and Art Therapy, all of which inform my work. Having moved from London several years ago, I now live and work on the East coast of England.

On leaving Camberwell Art College, I was discovered by Sweet Waters Gallery, in London 1990, who exhibited my work at various international venues. I continue to exhibit in the UK, in London, and throughout East Anglia, as well as in several international venues (when they're open).

My work draws on a range of influences from the psychology of Carl Jung to various art movements including, surrealism and conceptual art. Through my work I explore issues of life, death, beauty and the human condition, infusing my work with symbols and meaning. I refuse to be pinned down into a particular style or genre, fluctuating between figurative art and abstraction.

Although I define myself primarily as a painter, my approach is often multidisciplinary.

THANK YOU & HAPPY CHRISTMAS I haven't posted anything here for quite some time. I feel this is the only way I could possibly thank everyone who has shown so much appreciation for my work 'Alpha and Omega' and to DA for featuring it. I would be

I've had such a busy year already. I demonstrated some gold leaf work for an art group in London last month. I'm currently curating and organising a local exhibition for a collaborative installation and I've been shortlisted for the Chaiya Art Awards with my large painting Alpha and Omega 100cm x 100cm oil on canvas. This is to be exhibited in the Oxo Tower in London in April for 2 weeks along with the other shortlisted artists. My work will also be published in a hardback book. https://chaiyaartawards.co.uk/

I missed this I've been very busy and very well thanks. How are you? :)

No worries. I don't get here as much as I once did. Seems many of us don't.
I see you've been busy. I follow you on Facebook. Very glad to hear you're doing well. I remember times when that wasn't quite the case.
I'm well, thanks. And busy 🙂
